The metal of an astrological ring is traditionally matched to the gemstone's planet, and the setting should let the stone touch your skin.
Traditional metal by gemstone
| Gemstone | Traditional metals |
|---|---|
| Ruby, red coral, yellow sapphire | Gold, copper or Panchdhatu |
| Pearl, Firoza, opal, zircon | Silver |
| Emerald | Gold or silver |
| Blue sapphire, Gomed, cat's eye | Silver, Panchdhatu or gold |
What is Panchdhatu?
Panchdhatu is a traditional alloy of five metals used for astrological rings and idols. It is a popular, affordable alternative to gold for Sun, Mars and Jupiter stones.

View all →Pure silver vs German silver
- Pure silver (925 sterling): 92.5% silver; used for our made-to-size gemstone rings
- German silver: a silver-coloured alloy of copper, nickel and zinc with no actual silver; used for affordable adjustable crystal rings
Bezel vs prong setting
- Bezel: metal surrounds the stone; secure and classic
- Prong: claws hold the stone; more light enters, so the stone often looks brighter
Either way, astrological rings are usually made with an open back.
Finding your ring size
- Wrap a strip of paper or thread around the finger you will wear the ring on
- Mark where it meets and measure the length in millimetres
- Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are slightly larger, and make sure it slides over the knuckle
- Send us the measurement on WhatsApp (+91 91080 64594) and we will confirm your Indian ring size before making the ring
If you already own a ring that fits that finger, its inner diameter is the easiest reference.
How long does a ring take?
Gemstone rings with size or carat options are made to order and dispatched 7–12 days after order confirmation.
