Spiritual guide
A Rudraksha's mukhi is the number of natural lines (faces) running from top to bottom of the bead. Each mukhi is traditionally linked to a deity. The 5 mukhi (Panchmukhi) is the most common and is considered suitable for everyone.

Why 5 mukhi is the most popular
Panchmukhi beads are the most abundant, so they are affordable and widely worn in malas and bracelets for daily japa, calm and protection.

- Count the lines: each should run fully from one end to the other.
- Look for a natural, uneven surface; lines carved in afterwards look too sharp and regular.
- For higher mukhi beads, buy with a lab certificate.
How to wear and energise
- Wash in clean water and, if you like, dip in raw milk or Ganga jal.
- Offer it to Lord Shiva and chant Om Namah Shivaya 108 times.
- Monday is the traditional day to start wearing it.
- Many people remove Rudraksha while sleeping and bathing, and apply a little oil now and then to keep the bead from drying.
